Pressed Flowers EP

by Michael Wadlow

/
1.
We picked wildflowers, from down by the river on the outskirts of town. Pressed, framed and hung them up. Then you closed the door, to the dark of November, and suddenly the world was so small. Oh we rise, and sometimes we fall. but those flowers, those flowers, don't change at all. Memories slowly surface in the front of my head like rusty bikes from river beds and I recall, Headlights in the dark of November, broken glass on the floor. Oh we rise, and sometimes we fall, but those flowers, pressed flowers, don't change at all.
2.
You and I, Together til we die, Under the pale blue moon, That hangs in the sky. I'll hold your hand, In this dark land, No more tears to cry, In the departure lounge. Forever you'll fall right into my arms as the world howls outside. While the night looks down on abandoned fairground rides. You and I, Together til we die, Under the pale blue moon, Chase the powerlines.

Brittany Murphy in Union Square, Fighting demons that were never there. In the pale blue light of American song, You were punching air all along. Theres mold in the bathroom and dust on the shades. In the Hollywood hills It's rained for five days. You can still feel the heat of the boulevard. You'll never win if you try too hard. The open-eyed wonder of feeling so lost Not knowing why is all you've got. In your trash they'll find razorblades The milk in the fridge has been off for five days a piano plays in the other room. oh go to sleep you'll be home soon. The open-eyed wonder of feeling so lost Not knowing why is all you've got.
